RACHEL calls ‘daddy’ for the first time!

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

On Sunday, 20 Juy 08, when RACHEL is two years, two months and one day old, she finally addresses me ‘daddy’ loudly when YEN asks her to.  But it was one-off until now.  Still, I’m happy that it happened.  She cannot be coaxed to do the same to address mummy, however.  Well, not yet.

YEN and I went to JIANWEI and JIANHONG’s for their housewarming on Sunday evening.  We did not want to bring our children originally as we had seen how RACHEL reacted when my group of friends come over in the comfort of our home - she cries like she loathes them.  Moreover, she did not take her afternoon nap and we were afraid that she would be very ‘cranky’ while she would be there with us.  By the time YEN got changed, RACHEL recognised that we were going out and went off to get her shoes too.  We did not want to disappoint her, so we brought her in the end.

RACHEL took a little nap in the car, and she really delighted us when she reached their new home.  She ‘communicated’ with almost all my friends who were present and apart from crying when she fell a couple of times, didn’t cry for the rest of the time we were there until she was tired and we left.  She jumped around happily, even met WENQIANG’s baby girl for the first time and ’sayanged’ her many times!

YEN’s JCI (some kind of validation for the hospital and her department) is coming to an end.  She had been very busy, staying overtime almost every night for the past two weeks.  It’s finally coming to an end on Monday and she can finally heave a sigh of relief, hoping for the best.  Poor girl.  At home, she hardly has enough rest too when the children (especially FELIX) cannot be coaxed to stop crying by me and she has to take over carrying him.  FEIX then stops crying, almost immediately!  Some people say it’s because he can sense the imminent arrival of the third child and is ‘jealous’.  I’m not sure how true; luckily, RACHEL doesn’t seem to be as affected by this now!

Many things have happened in this fortnight

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I had not written for the past fortnight as there seemed too many things that happened.  For starters, school started again, and I’m a one-year-full teacher, two years left on the bond and another year before I can ask for a transfer of schools (if I wanted).  Half a year after taking my first ever form class and I can only assess myself by saying - I’ve done the best I can, though it may not seem up to mark in certain areas… but hey, I’ve known my class better and I’m learning.  =)

There was some activity among my so-called group of "best friends" - WENQIANG became a father in May, ZHENSHUN got married in June and JIANWEI / JIANHONG plus ZHENSHUN flew off for their honeymoons after ZHENSHUN’s wedding dinner.  However, when I tried to ask them to meet up recently but I only got JIANHONG’s and WENQIANG’s negative SMS replies.  Sigh.  Sure, everyone has things in life that may be important to them sometimes, but an SMS reply was what the least they could send me to reply…

I wanted to let them know this first - YEN and I are needing to change our car as we need a bigger one.  Yes - YEN is pregnant, again.  The expected delivery date of our third child will be in Feb 2009.  It was not planned for, but we discussed it and decided to accept the Lord’s gift in open arms.  There must be greater plans for our family with the introduction of this third child.  =)

I’ve never imagined having so many children.  Of course, not to mention for them to come into this world so soon after the earlier one.  This brings along some things we have never looked at, like space in the car, plans for having three children, etc.  Perhaps it is good too, that we have children so soon, so that my children will be 12, 11 and 9 by the time I turn 40 in 2018.  We can look forward to an easier retirement later as they are grown up.  Now, however, it’s going to be hard on us, YEN especially, looking after and providing for the children.

I went scouting for an affordable seven-seater to change into after our March with EDDIE’s help.  It seems to be a choice between a HONDA STREAM and a TOYOTA WISH.  In the end, I prefer the latter due to its supposed fuel efficiency.  We’ll see when we can get one on the road.

Really, I think we must control our urges and try to prevent a fourth child from happening later…
