Felix flips from his back on his own =)

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

FELIX has been able to flip (or should I say ‘turn’?) his body from lying to lying on his front.  He hasn’t, however, been able to return to his first position of lying on the back and cries for help after being on his front for a little time (and he turns over himself, most times, so why cry??).  He is adorable as ever and almost everyone who has seen him (strangers included) marvel at how ‘big’ he is at the age of six months.

We took RACHEL and FELIX to take passport-sized photographs the last weekend, getting ready for me to make their passports.  You should ask me to show you their photographs - they look just adorable.  FELIX sat on a chair, supported by YEN, for the photograph and it was RACHEL’s turn.  The shop assistant taking the shot commented on how RACHEL’s fringe might make the photograph unsuitable for use and reached out to sweep RACHEL’s fringe aside for her.  RACHEL bawled at this!

We thought we were unable to take RACHEL’s photograph that day, but I was adamant to do so.  I waited a little while for her to calm down and I sat on the chair, with her on my lap.  The shop assistant checked her camera and informed me that I was in the picture (which I shouldn;t be).  So I got off, hoping that our princess wouldn’t cry.  Luckily, she didn’t as I held on to her while she sat and got the picture taken.  Tough job this is, being a parent; but I’m loving it!  =)

Jianwei and Jianhong weds, finally!

My best buddies JIANWEI and JIANHONG have finally ended their ten years of courtship.  With ZHENSHUN also tying the knot later this year, they are increasing the number of our good friends who are married.  Our best wishes to all of them!

We met SHIHUI at JIANWEI’s wedding lunch, and got to meet her daughter, RHEA.  She is a few days younger than FELIX, but gosh!  The difference in their weight!  Either FELIX is very well fed, or something is really right with the milk powder he is taking!

It has been very tiring for YEN and I, working and all…  we look forward to every time we get to take a rest, but when it comes to the weekend, we have other things to do and before you know it, the rest period is over and it’s back to the hustle and bustle of life…

Happy lunar new year - hope that it’ll be a prosperous year of the rat for all!

Happy lunar new year to all!  It’ll be a good break for us as the first two days - public holidays - fall on Thursday and Friday, while the next two days are the weekends.  A few have taken this chance to travel overseas to take a short trip.

YEN and I decided to take this chance to take a rest at home.  Well, if we look at the schedule of visting we have, it actually leaves us very little time for rest too.  We’ll be visiting YEN’s relatives at her grandma’s on the first day, my mum-in-law and YEN’s mum on the second day.  We had nothing on the third day until my pal STEVEN invited us to his place for a lunch / gathering for that day, and we’ll be getting together with my old pals of twenty years on Sunday.

On the eve of Chinese New Year today, we came back after half-a-day’s work.  We brought RACHEL to the beach at East Coast Parkway as I hope to let RACHEL experience more new things as she grows.  We bought a little toy set of beach things - spades, buckets and all - so that she could play there.

RACHEL was apprehensive about the place at first as it was her maiden visit to a beach.  Coupled with the slope of the beach that needed her to balance herself, she warmed to playing there with one or two pieces of her new toys.  She will need to be brought to the beach again in the days later to accustom her to the place.  We took a few nice shots of her there.  Will upload it here soon.  =)

CNY 08 approaching

The weeks have passed by so fast…  FELIX has been able to turn, mum told us in the week.  RACHEL continues to mature slowly, still yet to speak meaningfully to us.  I went on course in the middle of last week and will do so again tomorrow.

I am finding it difficult to teach my class in school as a form teacher as I am spending a lot of time in class collecting forms and money.  I hope to be able to train them to be more independent.  I set quite a few systems for them but my problem is seeing them follow through these systems.

I just attended my good ex-colleague and friend FIRDAUS’ wedding dinner last night.  My good friend STEVEN is back from AUSTRALIA today.  YEN’s good ex-classmate is coming back from TAIWAN for this holidays period too.  Think my old friend JINGFANG is coming back as well.  Whoa!  Quite a bit of catching up to do this time!  =)
